Podcasting...

I have not had really any experience with podcasting before. I had heard of it and sort of knew what it was and how it worked, but had never used it or even downloaded one before. When seeing that we were going to make one for this class, I was excited and interested in learning how to make one of my own. I have not done this yet, but i have looked around and done some exploring. It seems to be fairly easy, and also could be a great tool to use in the classroom as something educational, perhaps for older students, say high school aged. This would be more likely as it would be more likely for high schoolers to have access to iPods. I am still trying ot work on this project, and I hope to have this done soon:)

Forgot about iMovie Blog...

I just realized I never wrote a blog about our groups iMovie project. This was one project I really enjoyed because I have had a lot of practice and experience with this program. I think it is fun to take clips and photos and put them together in a fun little movie. I have actually been wanting to spend more time with iMovie, and I am in the process of working on some short videos of my daughter.

I thought that this project was fairly easy. Our group decided to do the video on a jump rope at first because that was an item Andrea had in her car, lol. We practiced in class doing some roping "moves", and then decided that it might be easier to find a different product to film. Amanda thought of doing Powerade, and this was great because she was able to use her softball team girls to help be the cast members for this little video. She did most of the actual videotaping, and the three of us girls together finished putting together the iMovie in class. it was funny watching the things we had and figuring out timing and which clips to use.

I really loved working with iMovie. It is one of my favorite programs to use. I think that this is great and could be a great lesson or project for middle school and high school students.

Navigating Google Earth???

Figuring out this website for me was a challenge. It tool me awhile to get things where I wanted them, like putting down my 5 thumbtacks, and having them actually be where they should be. I enjoyed being able to have the time to work with this website, and do feel that i now know more about this site and it's purpose and how it works.

When working on this project I really had a difficult time adding in the descriptions of each thumbtack site, and putting in the photo and link to a website. I seem to have trouble usually trying to figure out these sort of things at first, then I am able to figure things out around the end of the project. I feel that it takes me until the end to fully understand what I am doing. I usually take a lot of time to work on something like this, and to have it turn out the way that it is supposed to.

Working with Google Earth has been some what of a challenge, and also fun and educational as well. I am glad to have had the opportunity to explore this website more and see the things I can use it for. I think that this will be a great tool for me to use in the future in my classroom. I want to be able to use my little Google Earth panning video for a lesson or as a tool for parents to look at. This is something that can be used for a long time, and benefit the parents and students of my classroom.

Creating My Collage

I got the idea to create a Christmas type of photo that looked like my child and her doggie, so I found a picture of my Christmas tree in my living room after decorating it. Then I scanned a photo of my daughter that was a picture from my parents house. For my internet photo I took a picture of a dog from flickr and added that in the collage as our pet.

I thought that this was going to be more difficult at first, and perhaps being the reason for procrastinating on finding an idea or something interesting to do for this project. I am really involved with children, and this is something that I am so passionate about myself, so I really wanted to do something with my daughter or family. Christmas was one of the most recent times I used my camera, and I found a great pic of my tree. Next, I was able to scan in the photo of my daughter, and I could "cut" around it to outline only my daughter, then "shrink" her and add her in to look like she was in front of the tree. We have a dog at home, but she is a yellow lab. I decided it would be fun to add in a different kind of dog (also a pic was needed from the internet). So I found a picture of a puppy and again outlined it and put it in my original photo.

I have used photoshop a lot before but have not done a whole lot working with layers. This was more fun and a challenge to figure out how to get this working the way I wanted it to. I figured out the correct way to work on sizing and also to move things around to get them to look more realistic. This was a fun project, and easier than I thought it might have been. Photoshop is a fun program to work with.

Photoshop Elements

I really enjoy working with this program. I love being able to put one of your own photos up and finding little neat and cool things to do to your photo, like adding a bubble affect, and changing objects to different colors or sizes. I think it's fun to "cut out" an object in the photo and completely remove it or put it somewhere else. There are so many neat features that I like in this program, and I really like being able to undo all of your steps if you messed up or don't like something.

Web 2.0

I liked this website. I learned just form going to this website that there are so many tools and applications available on the web that I didn’t know were there. I thought that this website was easy to navigate through, and that I could find things easily that I was interested in. I found the functions of this website to be nice.

The purpose I thought of the website is to help show you where to find useful sites for things that interest you. Like I want to be a teacher, and I looked under the tag “fun”, and I found a website that was called “Game classroom”. This site has many useful tools like: free games for children, reading games, math games, listening games, homework help, etc. I also tried the tag “photo” and found many different things for using and creating new photos. I enjoy doing things with my own photos at home on my computer. So I found these things on this website to be fun and helpful in finding new things online that can help me with my hobbies. I tried the website “photo express” which was free downloadable stock photos. You created your own free account. I enjoyed looking at the photos to see what was there.

I found things to work pretty well on this website, and it was easy to navigate. I liked being able to choose a tag, and then see all the icons for each website. This gave me a little peak or idea about what that website could look like. I didn’t really see much that I felt was poorly working or didn’t work.

I think this website is for many ages. This can be a great tool for teachers so the can find fun websites for their students. Students can use this website to find things that interest them in their age groups, and use it for school and learning purposes. I think it could be good for elementary age students, as well as older kids to help them with their interests and hobbies they enjoy.

Hello everyone, my name is Lesli Temple, I am married and have a wonderful 18 month old little girl! She is so entertaining and precious! I live in Sweet Home and teach 4 yr olds preschool at a private christian school/childcare center. I would love to teach in a public school anywhere from kindergarten to about the third grade. This would be the ideal job for me.

I went to college in Ashland at Southern Oregon University, and graduated with my Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood Development, in June 2008. I thought this post-bacc. program at WOU would be perfect for me, to work still, raise my family, and still go to school.

I am excited about starting this program, and look forward to learning more and getting to know everyone more as well.
