Podcasting...
I have not had really any experience with podcasting before. I had heard of it and sort of knew what it was and how it worked, but had never used it or even downloaded one before. When seeing that we were going to make one for this class, I was excited and interested in learning how to make one of my own. I have not done this yet, but i have looked around and done some exploring. It seems to be fairly easy, and also could be a great tool to use in the classroom as something educational, perhaps for older students, say high school aged. This would be more likely as it would be more likely for high schoolers to have access to iPods. I am still trying ot work on this project, and I hope to have this done soon:)
Forgot about iMovie Blog...
I just realized I never wrote a blog about our groups iMovie project. This was one project I really enjoyed because I have had a lot of practice and experience with this program. I think it is fun to take clips and photos and put them together in a fun little movie. I have actually been wanting to spend more time with iMovie, and I am in the process of working on some short videos of my daughter.
I thought that this project was fairly easy. Our group decided to do the video on a jump rope at first because that was an item Andrea had in her car, lol. We practiced in class doing some roping "moves", and then decided that it might be easier to find a different product to film. Amanda thought of doing Powerade, and this was great because she was able to use her softball team girls to help be the cast members for this little video. She did most of the actual videotaping, and the three of us girls together finished putting together the iMovie in class. it was funny watching the things we had and figuring out timing and which clips to use.
I really loved working with iMovie. It is one of my favorite programs to use. I think that this is great and could be a great lesson or project for middle school and high school students.
Navigating Google Earth???
Figuring out this website for me was a challenge. It tool me awhile to get things where I wanted them, like putting down my 5 thumbtacks, and having them actually be where they should be. I enjoyed being able to have the time to work with this website, and do feel that i now know more about this site and it's purpose and how it works.
When working on this project I really had a difficult time adding in the descriptions of each thumbtack site, and putting in the photo and link to a website. I seem to have trouble usually trying to figure out these sort of things at first, then I am able to figure things out around the end of the project. I feel that it takes me until the end to fully understand what I am doing. I usually take a lot of time to work on something like this, and to have it turn out the way that it is supposed to.
Working with Google Earth has been some what of a challenge, and also fun and educational as well. I am glad to have had the opportunity to explore this website more and see the things I can use it for. I think that this will be a great tool for me to use in the future in my classroom. I want to be able to use my little Google Earth panning video for a lesson or as a tool for parents to look at. This is something that can be used for a long time, and benefit the parents and students of my classroom.
